Frequently Asked Questions

How does a session work? Sessions are 30 or 60 minutes and take place over video call or phone, whichever you prefer. When you book, you'll answer a few quick questions about your situation so I can prepare. I'll then talk through where you are, what's happened so far, and what your options look like going forward.

How much does it cost? 30-minute sessions are £25. 60-minute sessions are £45. Evening and weekend sessions are £35 for 30 minutes and £60 for an hour. Payment is taken when you book, apart from evening and weekend sessions that you need to contact me directly for.

Can I book more than one session? Yes, there's no package or commitment. You can book as many sessions as you need, whenever you need them. Some people book once for clarity on a specific situation. Others come back at different stages of a process.

What if I'm not sure whether I need a session? If you're not sure, book a free 15-minute discovery call. I'll talk briefly about your situation and let you know whether a session would be helpful or if you might need different support.

What if my situation is really complicated? Complex situations are fine, that's often when independent guidance is most useful. If you're concerned about whether one session will be enough, start with a free 15-minute discovery call. I can get a sense of what's going on and be honest about whether I'm the right person to help, and whether you'll need more than 30 or 60 minutes to work through it properly. If your situation has a specific complexity I want to double-check, I'll be honest about that. I may need to verify a specific process and follow up with you briefly via email to ensure the information I've given you is as accurate as possible.

Will you attend meetings with me or represent me? No. I don't attend meetings or act as your union rep. I help you prepare for meetings and conversations and my aim is for you to feel confident to handle them yourself. If you need representation, I can point you toward appropriate support.

Is this legal advice? No. I provide HR support based on experience, not legal advice. If your situation moves into legal territory, such as settlement discussions, potential tribunal claims, or complex discrimination issues, I'll tell you and signpost you to an employment solicitor.

Is this confidential? Yes. Your employer will never know you've spoken to me, and sessions are private. The only exception is if you tell me something that suggests you or someone else is at serious risk of harm. In those rare situations, I may need to break confidentiality to ensure safety. Otherwise, nothing is shared without your permission.

Can you guarantee an outcome? No. I can't control what your employer does or what happens in your situation. What I can do is help you understand the process, think through your options clearly, and feel more confident about how to handle it.

Do you work with employers or just employees? Just employees. Klar is completely independent from employers. I don't work with or advise companies.

Do you only support UK-based employees? Yes. I work with employees based in the UK only. If you're based outside the UK, I'm not able to help as my knowledge and experience is specific to UK employment processes and practices.

Where are you based? Sessions are held over video call or phone, so location doesn't matter as long as you're based in the UK.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule? If you need to reschedule, please get in touch and we'll find another time. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, I can't offer a refund, but I'm happy to reschedule to another date.

Can I contact you between sessions? I'm happy to answer quick, clarifying points via email. However, if your question requires a new look at your situation or a discussion, I'll suggest we book a follow-up session so I can give it the proper attention it deserves.

Will I need to share any documents? Sometimes it helps to look at specific wording, like your contract, a policy, or letters you've received. If that's relevant to your situation, I'll let you know beforehand so you can have them handy. We can look at them together during the session by sharing your screen.

How do I know whether to book 30 or 60 minutes? If you're unsure, book a free 15-minute discovery call and I can help you decide which would work best.

60-minute session is better when:

  • This is your first conversation with me and we need time to explore your situation together

  • You want to work through your options and think about what feels right for you

  • You're preparing for an important meeting and want to build your confidence about how to handle it

  • You need space to talk through what's happened, how you're feeling about it, and what you want to happen next

  • You want to practice or rehearse so you feel more prepared

  • There's a significant decision ahead and you need time to think it through properly

  • You're dealing with multiple concerns and need to untangle them

30-minute session works well when:

  • You have a focused question or need clarity on something specific

  • You need help understanding what something means or how a process works

  • You want a quick confidence boost before a meeting

  • This is a follow-up and we're building on what we've already discussed

  • You need a sounding board to test your thinking
