Disciplinary Support

You've been invited to attend a disciplinary hearing. You're anxious and unsure how serious it is, and if it's completely new to you, you may not know what to expect. Or you have bad memories of going through this before.

I start by looking at the wording of the invitation with you and helping you understand what type of disciplinary it appears to be and what that normally means in practice. I talk through what the meeting is actually for and what the employer is likely trying to establish at that point.

I explain how disciplinary meetings are usually run, who typically attends, and what your role is in the meeting. I go through what information you've been given so far and what it would be reasonable to ask for before the meeting takes place.

I help you think about how to approach the meeting calmly and factually, including how to answer questions and how to avoid saying things that could unintentionally make the situation worse.

I also cover practical points such as being accompanied, asking for clarification, and taking time to consider information.

If it becomes clear that the situation is more serious or carries legal risk, I tell you that and explain when it would be appropriate to speak to an employment solicitor.

My role is to help you understand what's happening and feel more prepared to engage with the process, not to predict outcomes or tell you what decision to make.
